Let me preface this by saying from now on Art’s will be our first stop. We had used them in the past for our problem vehicle, and they were amazing then too. This one just seemed like an easy fix…I was wrong. We started having issues with our 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport not shifting correctly going uphill during a trip to Bend. So we took it in to a transmission shop to have it looked at, thinking it must be the transmission. We were told that we did indeed need a new transmission. We opted for a used transmission with low miles. The repair was done, we picked up our car and on the way home, as soon as we hit the Rainier hill the car wouldn’t go over 50 MPH and was revving up to 5,000RPM. We limped it home, and called the transmission shop. They told us to bring it back in, that the transmission must be bad and that they would have to install a different one (even used it had a 12k mile/12month warranty). We dropped it off the next morning. Almost 2 wks later we were told to come pick it up and take it to a repair shop because it wasn’t the transmission. That they had also checked the catalytic converters, replaced the MAP sensor and the plugs and it was still doing it. So I immediately went online and requested an appointment with Art’s. Within 30 minutes I received a phone call from Trevor who had me explain everything that had transpired and the work that had been done. He told me that they wouldn’t be able to get it in until the following week, it was currently Wednesday. I told him that I feared driving it home over the hills and then back to Longview. He told me to go ahead and bring it in, but they wouldn’t be able to get to it that week. No worries, I just appreciated being able to leave it there and not cause any more damage, not knowing what was going on with it. We dropped it off and waited. Our wait was short. Friday morning I got a text from Art’s letting me know they found the problem. Not only was I impressed that they were able to squeeze it in earlier than anticipated, but the fact that they had an answer. Unfortunately that answer was going to cost us another significant amount of money to fix a problem that we thought we had already paid to fix. Monday morning we let them know to go ahead. They had to wait for a part, but late Thursday afternoon I got the text, our car was done. I picked it up Friday, confirmed that they had driven it uphill and it did fine and I left. I have never been so thankful to a repair shop as I was to Art’s while heading home. Not only was I able to go over 50mph up the hill, but it shifted normal and it drove better than it had in over a year. From the quality of work, to the kind and knowledgeable staff, you truly can’t go wrong. Can you find a cheaper shop? Probably. Just remember, you get what you pay for.
